Netaji Subash Chandra Bose College

The College started as a private college w.e.f 1972- 73 to cater to the growing need of students of Sambalpur . On 10th July 1982 the management of the college was taken over by the Government of Orissa. The college was made a lead college along with other 20 colleges in the state w.e.f.1990-91. This is a rapidly growing college. Previously it was housed in rented building in a crowded area of Sambalpur town but in July 1989 it was shifted to its own building situated on a severe and beautiful landscape on the outskirts of the town.

Teaching facility in Honours is available both in the humanities and Commerce subjects. +2 Science was started in the session 2001-02 and ever since science classes for +2 students have been going on in full swing. There is a growing demand for opening of Science Classes at +3 stages. Hence the college is preparing itself to meet the demand .The NAAC Peer Team visited the college in the month of February 2006 and was accredited and the college was awarded with Grade – C.

The institution serves as a learning hub for the aspiring students from all strata of the society with an emphasis on ST, SC and Minority Community. Girl students constitute nearly half of the total student population of the college. The institution imparts its scholastic and non-scholastic programmes with the following vision and mission.

  • To train the students in life skills and to prepare them for knowledge based vocations as a part of capacity building programme.
  • To practise the habit of character building and to prepare student with value education for the society.
